And now, the future ...
For the past several years, I’ve been fighting a decline in both physical and mental health. Conditions have left me feeling chronically fatigued with depression always adjacent. As I write this, I realize I don’t have the energy for further literary projects—be it writing or publishing. Because of this, I’m winding down my artistic ventures, completing my earlier commitments, and will be closing things out with a live reading this upcoming Fall here in Stratford as well as putting out the final edition of my Selected Poems (official release date of 02/02/22) without any fanfare.
There is a sort of quiet that one withdraws to when the many years of societal engagement has taken its toll—and this is where I’m at. Besides, a new generation of writers is vying for attention and readership, which is the case of so many other aspects of life. Though I’ve delayed putting this off in an on-again manner over the past while, this time everything feels more definite and this old cat needs to take an indefinite nap. As always, thanks for reading.
